Ray Moore



Educated at Convent Primary, CBS Primary and CBS Grammar schools , Omagh.
Member of St Eugene’s Brass and Reed Band from the age of ten.  Had piano  lessons for a year with Mrs B Myler. Joined  “TheMelody Boys Dance Band “ at 14.This band evolved into the Platters / Plattermen. Other members of the band  included Arty McGlynn , Pat Chesters, Leo Doran, Billy McGinty, Jackie Adams, Aidan O’Neill and Brendan O’Donnell.

Played in the Plattermen up to 1974. and then joined Paddy Cole’s Showband with Twink etc. Was involved in numerous TV shows and was session man on many other peoples recordings including Philomena Begley, Big Tom, Roly Daniels, Horslips.
Still playing in various jazz groups , recently was MD for the Ratpack Show, featuring Jackie Fullerton among others. Forthcoming engagements include the Neil Diamond Show with Brendan Quinn in September 2006. As involved in the musical direction of local pantomimes and various musical shows.

Ray and the Moore family have brought a wealth of Irish music and song to many events of the West Tyrone Historical Society.
