Una Timoney


Una Timoney was born in the townland of Garvagh, near Omagh. She was educated at Tattysallagh Primary School and Loreto Convent Grammar School , Omagh. Una married Daniel Timoney of Dregish, a diary farmer. Una and Daniel share a keen interest in local history and genealogy. Una was employed by the WELB as a laboratory technician in Omagh College of Further Education from 1975 until 1983. She worked as a guide in the Ulster History Park for 8 years. Una is currently employed as a Museum Interpreter in the Ulster American Folk Park and as a Clerical and Administrative Support Officer in Strabane and District Community Network.

Voluntary activities and cultural interests include : Agriculture, Archaeology, Traditional crafts, History and Local Traditions, Information Technology and Community Development.

Una was elected as Honorary Secretary to the Executive Committtee of the West Tyrone Historical Society in 1998
